Dr. Bharathy Manoharan, Retired Principal of Lady Wellington College. A dynamic lady who has served many educational institutions in various capacities. She is the recipient of BEST TEACHER AWARD from TAMIZHGA EDUCATION RESEARCH FOUNDATION. Author of many books. She has been instrumental in training teachers and shaping many students during her service. She has served as member of academic council, member of senate in the University of Madras.One of her notable project among many – “The Study on the Impact of Social Science in Promoting Social Awareness Among the Secondary Student” – Under MHRD for Reorganising, Restructuring and Upgrading Teacher Education.

About the Speaker:
Prof. Dr. Sultan Ahmed Ismail is an Indian Soil Biologist and Ecologist. He is known for his technology vermitech which is used to recycle organic garbage into valuable fertilizer using local varieties of earthworms and is also applied in soil bioremediation.
He has published 65 papers in National and International Journals & Proceedings and Supervised 32 students for M.Phil, and 17 students for Ph.D.
He is honoured with a D.Sc. in Zoology from the University of Madras in 2001 for his research in the field of Soil Ecology – Earthworms – Waste Management He is also the Managing Director of Ecoscience Research Foundation.

- Vocational Service Award 1992 93 by the Rotary Club of Madras Metro.
- Exnora‘s Friend of the Environment Award for 1993 presented by the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.
- Commonwealth Association of Science Technology and Mathematics Educators (CASTME) Award for 1994-95.

CME from the department of community medicine was held on 12/2/2020 at HAHNEMANN Hall auditorium, Venkateswara Homoeopathic Medical College And Hospital, Chennai from 11.30 to 1pm. The speaker for the session was Dr. Kovalan BHMS, MPH, Nutrition specialist from UNICEF, MALAWI. All the teaching staff, OPD staff, interns, final year senior and junior students of VHMC participated in the CME. The session started with a welcome address by Ms. Yazhini intern. The topic of the CME was “GENERATING EVIDENCES IN HOMOEOPATHY”. The speaker briefed the various government policies in homeopathy and stressed the need for generating evidences in Homoeopathy which is the need of the hour. The main resource is the data collection and how to collect data was emphasized using power point presentation and various examples. At the end the speaker briefed the various career options which a BHMS graduate can think of.
