Venkateswara Homoeopathic Medical College is a unit of Hahnemann Homoeopathic Medical Trust registered in the year 1994. Venkateswara Homoeopathic Hospital was established in the year 1995 by our Founder- Chairman Er.V.K.Arumugam with the sole purpose of taking Homoeopathy to the masses. The service of highly qualified and experienced doctors, and imported homoeopathic medicines was made available at a very affordable cost.
Thus he wanted to promote homoeopathy and take it to every nook and corner of Tamilnadu. At the same time, he wanted the sick and needy people to benefit from the safe, gentle and effective method of treatment.
Subsequently, Venkateswara Homoeopathic Medical College was started in the year 2000 with an ambitious desire to bring out qualified competent and confident Homoeopathic graduates. The college is situated in a prime area in Porur, Chennai, in a scenic location just opposite to the Porur Lake. It is well connected to the suburban areas of Chennai also, through public transport and a bypass route.
The college takes pride in its integrated educational and medical infrastructure, wherein the modern refurbished buildings, spacious well-ventilated classrooms which are equipped with microphones, LCD projectors, state of the art laboratories for every subject, well-furnished library with an exhaustive collection of books, air conditioned auditorium with a seating capacity of 500 people adequately meet the needs of a medical student throughout his study.
The highly qualified and experienced teaching faculty is one of the major strength of our institution. Their student friendly approach, modern teaching techniques with audio visual aids (like LCD projector and microphone) in every classroom, individual attention assure academic excellence and are the reason behind our stupendous success rate in the university examination.
Our hospital facilities (Out–patient and In patient departments) are one among the best in the state. Our OP caters to more than 250 patients in a day. Our experienced doctors treat a large variety of acute and chronic diseases. Thus, our students are gifted with clinical exposure from 2nd year and thus gain confidence and competence while observing and assisting their chief doctors in their OPD clinics.
Our In-Patient Department records 40 to 50 percent bed occupancy throughout the month, where both emergencies and chronic complaints are being treated. So students have good bedside exposure and also have hands-on experience in basic medical techniques like IV administration, catheterisation etc. Our IPD is also equipped with the pathology lab, X-ray, ECG and Ultra sound scan facility. Well-trained technicians, state of the art equipments ensure precision and accuracy of our test reports. The students are also well trained by our Pathologist, Radiologist and Sonologist.
Our students also have postings in nearby allopathic hospitals, so that they have an opportunity to observe and learn from the other school of medicine. Here, they get to see cases of general surgery, general medicine, normal labor, caesarean section, gynaecological surgery and cases of specialisation and learn from them.
The institution also conducts seminars, CME programs and teaching programs on a regular basis, so that students and interns get a chance to listen to experts and specialists talk about their experience and present cases of their expertise. Each of the 12 departments take turns to organise monthly seminars. The air-conditioned auditorium with modern sound system, high tech audio visual aids makes the seminars all the more interesting and helpful.
The college also focuses on extracurricular activities for the students to promote an overall development and an enthusiastic atmosphere.
Common festivals like Diwali, Pongal, Onam, Christmas, National days of importance like Independence day and Republic day are celebrated with pomp and splender. Fresher’s day, College day and Farewell to the graduating batch also add to the festive mood and joyous celebrations throughout the year. In addition, sports events , tournament and NSS activities ensure the physical and social well-being of the students.
The institution thus, aims at an all-round development of the student and brings out competent, medical graduates who are ready to face the challenges of the field of medicine and serve the ailing public.
